Responsible investor
ESG Policy
“As a responsible investor, Gagéo is fully aware of the need to preserve the planet as best we can for future generations.”
Gagéo wishes to contribute to the development of awareness among economic players of social, societal and governance criteria. Gagéo therefore integrates these criteria into its financing decisions.nt.
Our conviction: responsible investment, a source of positive impact
Responsible investment is the application of the concept of sustainable development to corporate finance. Companies are selected according to two complementary criteria: financial analysis and extra-financial analysis.
Taking ESG issues into account is now an essential part of our business, enabling us to reconcile financial and extra-financial impact in a sustainable and concrete way. This is why we have developed our own approach to responsible investment. We are constantly improving the way we measure the ESG performance of our investments, in order to set improvement targets tailored to each company we finance.
We wished to affirm our commitment by becoming a member of the United Nations’ “Principles for Responsible Investment”. By adhering to these principles, Gagéo undertakes to deploy the necessary means to integrate ESG issues into its investment process.
We also support initiatives aimed at strengthening the transition to a sustainable economy by joining Impact Gouv, a platform launched by the French State Secretariat for the Social, Solidarity and Responsible Economy.

Our approach
Today, responsible investment is a matter of concrete action. Our approach to taking ESG criteria into account is based on 4 stages:
Our policy objective
- Control the negative ESG externalities of our investment portfolio as much as possible.
- Encourage companies with a positive impact on ESG aspects by actively financing them. Since July 2021, we have included a rate reduction clause in every transaction, depending on the extent to which our ESG commitments have been met.
Recent examples of ESG clauses:
- Paper and packaging - Investment in a CRE-certified turbine enabling the company to produce its own, greener energy.
- Chemical Industry - Reducing production-related CO2 emissions
- Distribution of healthcare products - Gradual relocation of production to Europe and increased recruitment of disabled people
- IT product distribution - Development of a range of responsibly sourced products (reconditioning, recycled materials), improved waste management.
